About the Opportunity:
The Cold Spray Research Laboratory focuses on developing repair techniques and 3D additive manufacturing technology by a novel method that uses spraying of cold metal particles through a supersonic gas stream. We are in search of a design and manufacturing engineer with expertise in using modern CAD/CAM approaches.
Responsibilities:
Core responsibility will be to develop repair procedures for damaged parts, document the procedure according to sponsor requirements, and perform required testing of the repaired systems or mock components. Knowledge of CS technology is a plus but not required.
This person will also participate in external professional activities, i.e. publication of research, attendance/participation in professional conferences, etc..
Qualifications:
Must have a BS (preferably MS) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; Five years or more experience with progressively more responsible, independent engineering work.
Experience with CMM, CAD and CAM technologies, fluency with computer aided design software packages.
Project management experience, including supervisory, budgetary and general administrative skills are pluses but are not required.
US Citizenship is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While in the lab the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee could lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hearing protection is required in some areas.
JOB LOCATION
The Cold Spray Research Laboratory is located in the Kostas Research Institute of Northeastern University's Burlington Campus. Most duties will be performed at this location with potential trips to vendors, sponsors or the main campus of the University in Boston.
