Responsibilities
Mechanical Technician, IAssist engineers by performing analysis, testing, and support of machines, tools, equipment, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoot product designs and suggest or implement improvements. Repair, rework, or modify mechanical assemblies to meet operational specifications and tolerances. Assist engineers with fabricating and assembling mechanical prototype models from blueprints, schematics, or sketches. Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production models. Work with engineers to perform root cause and failure analysis as required. May provide support to manufacturing to ensure product is created to engineering specifications. Requires high school/trade school education, associate degree, certification, or professional training. Performs routine tasks as directed and under close supervision.Requires little to no related experience.This is an Entry-Level position in the Support track.Job Code: S45721Grade: S14

Completes routine tasks under moderate supervision.Requires at least 1 year of related experience.This is an Intermediate Level position in the Support track.Job Code: S45722Grade: S16

Mechanical Technician, IIIAssist engineers by performing analysis, testing, and support of machines, tools, equipment, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoot product designs and suggest or implement improvements. Repair, rework, or modify mechanical assemblies to meet operational specifications and tolerances. Assist engineers with fabricating and assembling mechanical prototype models from blueprints, schematics, or sketches. Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production models. Work with engineers to perform root cause and failure analysis as required. May provide support to manufacturing to ensure product is created to engineering specifications. Requires high school/trade school education, associate degree, certification, or professional training. Completes assignments with little supervision. May assist less-experienced team members.Requires 3+ years of related experience.This is a Skilled Level position in the Support track.Job Code: S45723Grade: S19



Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Mechanical Technician, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Mechanical Technician, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
Mechanical Technician, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.
