We are seeking a skilled Microsoft Security Engineer to join our team and help us protect our data and systems.
This Microsoft Security Engineer will leverage Microsoft 365 tools and products to secure university operations and data while balancing the needs of the research, clinical and educational mission of the University. As a Microsoft Security Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the secure configuration and operation of Microsoft products and services. You will collaborate with IT and Security Operations teams to design, implement, and manage security measures, monitor vulnerabilities, and respond to incidents. Your role will also involve providing technical support, conducting risk assessments, and developing security plans.
- Security Planning and Configuration: Collaborate with IT and Security Operations teams to design, implement, and manage secure configurations and compliance features for Microsoft products, ensuring data protection and regulatory adherence.
- Monitoring and Vulnerability Management: Use O365 security tools like Defender, Purview, and the Admin Center to monitor, analyze, and address vulnerabilities, staying updated on security patches and best practices.
- Incident Response and Compliance: Develop security plans, manage data loss prevention, eDiscovery, and retention policies, and promptly notify the security team of any incidents or breaches involving Microsoft products.
- Risk Assessment and Metrics: Conduct risk assessments to identify gaps and organizational risks, create metrics for false positives, successful blocks, and data disclosures, and collaborate with relevant teams to implement remediation controls.
- Technical Support and Automation: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for O365 cloud applications, monitor and document issues, propose solutions, and utilize PowerShell and other scripting languages to automate tasks and manage applications.
Work Location:
Hybrid - This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment. AMC OIT strives for a high-flex work environment, meaning although this role can predominately be executed effectively with a remote schedule, there may be instances where in-person meetings and/or activities are needed. There is no minimum or prescribed in-person requirement. The work schedule will be based around core working hours in Colorado Mountain Time.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, Business, or a related field.
- Substitution: 4 years of professional or high-level relevant technical work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree. An associate's degree with two years of relevant work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree
Experience:
- 2 years' experience administering Microsoft applications or systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and compliance capabilities.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience administering data loss prevention software or systems
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Security+
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Applied knowledge of IT systems, frameworks, and a minimum of two of the following: cybersecurity, healthcare security, IT compliance, IT industry best practices

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $80,000 - $90,000.
